for comments he made about gay players in the nfl. ktvu's joe fonzi is in new orleans and tells us how chris culliver faced the media today and what he said. joe? >> reporter: frank, we talked about this throughout the week, the super bowl is about fun and games but one or two serious issues come up throughout the week, that see the case today -- that was the case today. chris culliver's comments went viral today and this was the first time he was available to the media and the last time either team will be available to the media till sunday's game. he didn't duck the issues but his comments sounded different than earlier. >> i am sorry i offended anyone. like i said it was an ugly comment. it is not what i feel in my heart. hopefully i grow from this experience and situation and i love san francisco. anybody have any entitlements -- >> reporter: 49 brass and teammates weighed in on a day in which they would have preferred to be talking about football. >> i do believe that that is not -- there wasn't malice in his heart. he is not that kind of person. he is not a -- he is not an ugly person.

, initially, police told us they were looking for kim tolefree as well as a 1-year- old child, a girl. her name was -- her name is isaza tolefree. she was described as last wearing a pink shirt with blue bears holding anage and yellow blanket and kim tolefree was last seen wearing a plaid and beige coat, acid washed jeans. we're told the suspect was armed and dangerous. the twist -- and we just got done talking with oakland police and her daughters as well, we're told this may not be a child at all. it may be a case of domestic violence involving drugs. here's what one neighbor said. we don't that have sound right now. we're trying to sort out out the details. a cording -- sort the details. this 1-year-old girl, according had kim tolefree's daughters, the child does not exist. it may have been a matter of a domestic violence case with drugs. pline floor -- brian flores, ktvu channel 2 news. >>> we're following developing news out of turkey. a suicide bomber set off explosives killing himself and an embassy security guard. coming up at 7:15, what we are hearing about the group responsible

says it does not know the motive for today's deadly bombing on the edge of the u.s. embassy compound in ankara, turkey. a suicide bomber detonated his explosives after entering a security checkpoint. turkish authorities say the bomber was a member of a banned marxist group. that group has been designated as a terrorist organization. kristin welker joins us with reaction from the white house. what is the white house saying about this? >> reporter: strong condemnation from the white house, jay carney saying this is a terrorist attack, making the point that they have not confirmed who exactly is behind this. though, as you point out, turkish officials say it was a 40-year-old man who was connected to a leftist organization in turkey. but, again, the white house condemning this action, urging americans to stay away from the embassy building there in turkey. also urging precautions in all of the embassies overseas. remember, this comes several months after that attack against the u.s. consulate in benghazi. state department officials working to make sure that these types of attacks are pr

of that guy, number 7, colin kaepernick. ahmed fareed joins us now from new orleans with more on that and what the team is saying about their young new leader. this kid has been on fire. >> reporter: he's been unbelievable and he's burst on the scene, jon, in the last 2 1/2 months. it was somewhat of an uncertain path to get here. there was only one scholarship offer for him to play football and that was with the university of nevada. the team he ended up playing for. that came one week before signing day. he was hoping for an opportunity. he got that. he was a better baseball player than football but football is what he wanted to do and now playing in super bowl xlvii and according to teammates, he could be the key to the game on sunday. >> there's something about kap that no matter what happens, he always keeps his composure. that's what i like about him. he's always under control no matter what. and it's a great thing, man. i'm just happy to have him be a part of this team. >> when things go wrong, he stay calm. you know, you just don't know -- defenses won't know what they'll get from him.
